Mrs. Barbary's Miraculous Show of Shows
A Variety Show to Benefit Our Scholarship Fund

WHAT IS IT? -- A rather zany variety show featuring current and past members of Mrs. Barbary's Homeschool Choirs, their families and friends. Acts have included: Irish step dancing, magic tricks, square dancing, Tae Kwon Do forms, juggling, joke telling, the Oh-So-Fabulous One-Rehearsal-Only Parent Choir . . .  and, of course, lots and lots of singing.

WHEN IS IT? -- SATURDAY, September 24  at 7:00 P.M. (6:30 CALL)

WHERE IS IT? -- Valley Presbyterian Church, 945 Portola Road, Portola Valley

Please contact Mrs. Barbary straightaway with your brilliant performance ideas. Preference will be given to ensemble pieces. Parents are particularly encouraged to participate.

$20/Family suggested donation collected at the door. (No one turned away for lack of funds.) 100% of proceeds benefit the scholarship fund.

Members of both choirs will join to perform 3 songs:

OCTOPUS' GARDEN

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave
We would sing and dance around
because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you

INTO THE WEST

Lay down
Your sweet and weary head
Night is falling
Youve come to journey's end
Sleep now
And dream of the ones who came before
They are calling
From across the distant shore

Why do you weep?
What are these tears upon your face?
Soon you will see
All of your fears will pass away
Safe in my arms
You're only sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
All souls pass

Hope fades
Into the world of night
Through shadows falling
Out of memory and time
Don't say, We have come now to the end
White shores are calling
You and I will meet again

And you'll be here in my arms
Just sleeping

What can you see
On the horizon?
Why do the white gulls call?
Across the sea
A pale moon rises
The ships have come to carry you home

And all will turn
To silver glass
A light on the water
Grey ships pass
Into the West

HELP ME, RHONDA

Well since she put me down
I've been out doin' in my head
I come in late at night
And in the mornin' I just lay in bed

Well, Rhonda, you look so fine
And I know it wouldn't take much time
For you to help me, Rhonda
Help me get her out of my heart

Help me Rhonda, help, help me Rhonda
Help me Rhonda yeah, get her out of my heart

She was gonna be my wife
And I was gonna be her man
But she let another guy come between us
And it ruined our plans

Well, Rhonda you caught my eye
And I can give you lotsa reasons why
You gotta help me Rhonda
Help me get her out of my heart
