Barbary Grant's 2009 Summer Recording Master Class

  • The Master Class
    Learn the ins and outs of the recording process and CD production: pre-production, recording terminology and strategies, and post-production. The proposed date for this one-hour class is Monday, June 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church, 945 Portola Road in Portola Valley. A second class may be offered depending on enrollment.

 

 

  • Private 1-Hour Coaching Session
    Playlist review; rehearsal; pre-recording. (Additional sessions/rehearsals available at an hourly rate.)
    Accompaniment by Mrs. Barbary is included in the package. 

  • The 2-Hour Recording Session
    Recording at Valley Presbyterian Church. A fine Young Chang baby grand piano is available for use. 
    Sessions will be offered during the third week of July and the second week of August.

  • Post-Production
    Editing, Mixing, and Mastering your CD. Provided by Professional Sound Engineer, David Sandwisch.

  • Graphic Design, Printing, and Assembly of CDs
    Provided by Barbary Grant.
    ** The Master Class package includes 10 CDs with labels, CD inserts, tray cards, and jewel cases. 
    Additional CDs can be ordered for a nominal fee.

Producer / Accompanist

  • Barbary "Mrs. Barbary" Grant
    Barbary has produced/recorded 4 CDs of Celtic music on the Changeling Records label. A seasoned and lively instructor, she will guide you through the entire process of CD production.  She can accompany singers and instrumentalists on the piano, Irish harp, organ or dulcimer. Sound Engineer

  • David Sandwisch
    David completed a B.A. in cinema at San Francisco State University. His experience as a sound engineer includes live sound, installations, CD recording, audio recording for DVDs and sound recording for film. He has recorded several choral CDs at Skywalker Sound in Marin. 

 

Adults and Family Projects Welcome.  No extra fee for guest musicians.

Course Fee $350 Payable upon receipt of finished CDs.
